If you believe that understanding science or issues involving the use of science and technology are important for all citizens in modern democratic societies, this program will appeal to you. You will need a science background - for example, some senior level post secondary science courses but not necessarily a science degree - and good communication skills. You will be energetic, curious, enjoy explaining things and working with other creative people. You will be comfortable in the demanding intellectual environment of graduate work and might be thinking of a career in:

  • policy development or as a communication specialist in a government Ministry,
  • science journalism,
  • consulting to businesses and corporations in the science and technology field,
  • a science centre,
  • teaching or administration in science education,
  • the public information office of a research organization with a mandate to communicate with the public.

Some students will spend a year on leave from their employment, some will be changing careers. Most will be recent graduates. All will have the skills and inclination to be different.
